There are eight branches of Ayurveda Viz., Medicine, Pediatrics
- Obstetrics - Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Surgery, ENT & Eye, Toxicology,
Rejuvenation and Virilification.
Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceuticals
and Panchkarma are also part of the above branches of Ayurveda.
As mentioned earlier "Ayurveda" means the science of life and longevity
and hence the study of this science will lead the individual to
understand life better, enabling balance between mind, body and
soul.
Studying Ayurveda is not limited for those who wish to become Ayurvedic
physicians, Doctors or Therapists but is applicable for all who
wish to attain personal growth.
Ayurveda teaches us to live in harmony with nature, which modern
life often ignores and is a complication of useful knowledge, which
is time-tested and proven to be extremely useful.
The basis of Ayurveda is the principals of the "Pancha Mahabhoota"
the "five great elements" and "Tridosha" "The three biological humors"
viz. Vata, Pitta and Kapha roughly translated
as "wind", "bile" and "phlegm" respectively.
The word dosha literally means "fault". Vata, Pitta and Kahpa are
positive forces in the body but they are also faults, in a way,
because they change, increase or less often decrease beyond what
is appropriate for our constitution. The vitiated dosha causes an
imbalance in the body or mind, creating an environment for diseases
to flourish.
In the study of Ayurveda we learn how to use herbal medicines, diet
and change in lifestyle to reduce and pacify one or more doshas
that have increased in the bodies. There are as many unique constitutions
as there are human beings. Ayurveda treats man as a whole and unique
individual. That is why its emphasis is mainly on the constitution
principals to treat the person for ailments.
For the convenience of overseas people, who are keen to acquire
the basic knowledge about Ayurveda and Yoga and to use it in their
day-to-day life for leading a healthy and happy life, we at "White
Lotus" conduct Introductory Courses on the Basics of Ayurveda
and Yoga. .
Although we observe that learning of this advanced science is something
for which even one life is not sufficient; we have designed our
courses in such a way so that people who do not have any Medical
background can also learn and benefit from these courses.
Besides supplying Ayurvedic Medicine, Herbal food supplements,
Organizing tours and Study program we also organize "Ayurveda Symposium"
from time to time where in we invite experts in the field of "Ayurveda"
to teach the participants.
The time and venue is published in our web site accordingly.
We wish you a happy journey through us…
